Bloomington - Mentoring

Date:  7/1/10 - 8/31/10

Description:  Teen Talk - Every Thursday the members divide into a group of all girls and a group of all boys.  The femal groups are led by a female LEADer and the male groups are led by a male LEADer so they can feel comfortable discussing issues that are prevalent in their lives.  A major issue is resisting ATOD.

Prevention:  The teens focus on refusal and resistance skills.

Fort Wayne - Community Service

Date:  7/22/10

Description:  Rescue Missio Field Trip

Prevention:  LEADers discussed with their peers the impact of drugs and alcohol when "coping" with life's stresses.

Fort Wayne - Philanthropy

Date:  9/1/10 - 9/30/10

Description:  LEADers conducted a clothing and can drive for local shelter

Prevention:  LEADers discussed with their peers the impact of addiction on one's life

Huntington - Advocacy

Date:  9/7/10

Description:  LEADers wrote letters to local council members noting the increasing use of prescription drugs by youth in our community.

Prevention:  Before the writing of the letters, LEADers lead a normative education exercise with teens in the club.

Huntington - Community Service

Date:  8/18/10 & 8/25/10

Description:  Cleaned up local parks including picking up trash, removing graffiti and pouring mulch.

Prevention:  After each session the LEADers discussed different ways to say no to peer pressure using one of the refusal and resistant techniques.
