Since 2017, we have been working with youths to set them on the paths of sustainability. Here is some of the youths sharing their LTI experience

LTI for me is a life changer.

I wanted to do big and great things in life but didn’t know how to go about it. Even on my course of study which is  Animal Production and Health I have grip on it. However, my internship in LTI has offered me more than what I asked for.

Through LTI’s school of ideation, I got to know that whatsoever that infuriates me the better version is in me and I must bring it out. This training made me realized how to birth creative ideas to serve as a plus on my university certificate. I was also taught on problem analysis and how to create sustainable enterprise.

With all I’ve learnt during my six months internship at LTI, I’ve decided to run my business with creativity and not run my business with the mindset of “doing what I like” but “I must meet people’s needs”

I’m Nyalas Heritage, 400 level student of Animal Production & Health, Ekiti State University.

I went to school to study agriculture just to get the certificate and move to something worthwhile. This notion was however supported with the poor agriculture teaching by our current educational system.

Then, I got the opportunity to meet Lead Transformation Initiative during my SIWES and my mindset about agriculture was changed completely. I was made to understand agriculture beyond the books and the pitiable state the society has made it be. My experience at one of the farms was the greatest thing that has happened to me. I got business opportunities in fish farming and how I can tap into the opportunities therein.

Moving ahead, I am going into fish farming putting everything I have learnt in my stay at LTI.

My name is Adewumi Seye Grace, student of Fishery Technology, Federal College of Agriculture, Akure.

I came to LTI as a student who has no clear path for the future. I was a student of agriculture with no practical knowledge. But on getting to LTI, my mind was worked upon by series of activities especially the school of ideation and my hands were made to engage in different field activities in agriculture, community development, and data gathering among others. This experience has helped me to know those things I desire to know but lack intellectual capacity to find out. I now therefore have a clearer career vision.

My intension therefore is to go into poultry and fish farming with the knowledge acquired so far.

Before I came to Lead Transformation Initiative, I was a passionate and ambitious young man but with no direction. I was lost and it always felt as if I needed a hand to hold. Life was just happening to me and though I knew I should be doing something with my life, I did not know how.

LTI became the push I needed, a voice to guide. It did an engineering work to my mind which has seen my mind taken upon itself a form that it can never recover from.  One of the things that have impacted my life positively is the lifestyle and personality of the management of LTI. They inspire me daily on living a disciplined, hardworking, productive life even on a daily basis.

Henceforth, having attained the state of mind required for my destiny, it is my resolution to be very intentional and strategic about the things I do with my life, taking necessary and aggressive steps towards life.

Akintade Muyiwa, student of Agric Extension & Economics, Federal University of Technology, Akure

I am student of Crop Soil and Pest Management doing the course to get the certificate and move on with my life because it wasn’t the course I wanted to do initially.

But my encounter with have gave me a new perspective towards this course. In my little time of stay, I was trained beyond agriculture. I have been able to build skill set that will be value beyond school. I have learnt team work, communication, leadership and most importantly been able to go through school of ideation mind transformation training.

With the knowledge gained, I am taking myself up piece by piece to form a whole that will be a light to my world.

My journey at LEAD Transformation Initiatives has been an amazing one. Before coming to LTI, I really had no clear idea as to what my agricultural journey would look like. I felt that studying agricultural extension had no real relevance, I had literally made up my mind just to graduate from school and just get busy with something else but then, I came for internship at LTI and my perspective changed totally.

Through series of trainings such as the school of ideation offered by the organization, I have been made to see the brighter side of Agriculture, I have been equipped with effective tools for analysing and discovering the root causes of problems in order to develop sustainable solutions for agriculture and other sectors. My mind is now much clearer. Coming to LEAD Transformation Initiatives has been a tremendous blessing, my experience so far is nothing short of awesomeness.

Fasanya Rachael, Agric. Extension & Comm. Fed. Univ. of Tech. Akure

My thought has been with a good degree my future will be secured. I never knew that life was far more than that. At LTI, I got exposed to so many things that gave me a new perspective about life.

During my internship at LTI, my eye was opened to opportunities in Agriculture. My training here helped me on my journey to discovering the peculiar irritation point unique to me for my sector—agriculture. And this in turn has boosted my confidence that I can proffer solutions that would keep me relevant in my sector.

Beyond getting a degree that would qualify me for a job, I also intend to create innovations in my sector that will have global impact and put Nigeria on leading role in Agricultural matters. And that will also aid in bridging the gap between poor rural farming communities and the global market in order to create economic equality—SGD 10 in Nigeria.

Oladejo Oluwakemi student of Agric Extension & Comm. Federal University of Technology Akure

Lead Transformative Initiative was the first place I had an experience testing proficiency, in all its ramification in the form of an interview. The interview ultimately determined each interns’ qualification to be accepted into the organization and was treated with all seriousness.

Apart from being highly competitive; four higher institutions competing for fifteen slots was scary. Luckily enough, I was among the first two to be chosen. I wouldn’t say I was too qualified but I guess that’s where the grace of God came in.

I came into LEAD as in intern with the expectation that I should only work to have good grades for my I.T defense. Little did I know that it was a life changing experience from skills down to the knowledge. All these were programs to prepare one for the challenges outside the four walls of the school environment.

After my training period in LTI, I will use all the knowledge acquired, to tackle my current challenges and improve my financial state thereafter, improve the state of those around me.

Folusho Ojo Lead experience

Without mincing words, Lead Transformation Initiative is certainly a place to be for industrial training. You asked why?  The answers are not far fetched.  LTI has contributed tremendously in shaping the destinies of my colleagues and I. It has given me ample opportunity, to maximize my potentials and have pragmatic application of the theoretical knowledge I have acquired in class.

Little wonder, many interns run to Lead Transformation Initiative, for their industrial training, knowing fully well, that their destinies will be positively impacted and geared towards a better and brighter future.

The experiences I have acquired overtime, will afford me the opportunity to fit into the workforce and make headway in life. The experience has been so wonderful and quite fascinating, which include: Bee keeping (Apiculture),  culturing of Fishes,  cultivation of Tomatoes, Pepper, Maize, Cucumber, raising of Poultry birds,  just to mention but a few.

The knowledge I have accrued overtime, is enough to make me an Agro-preneur which can create job opportunities for others  who are unemployed in the labour force.

Damaola Christian LTI experience

Before I encounter LTI, I use to think school can solve all my problems. So I put in my all to have a good academic standings. To my surprise, the system I believes in so much can only afford me theoretical knowledge and not the exact knowledge need to be relevant in the world of work.

Coming to LTI has helped me improve myself. Through the school ideation, I have experience a major mind transformation that is now helping see things differently from the way I used to see them. The training as given me alternative to criticism and equipped me with tools to analyze problems and arrive at a sustainable solution. Also, the exposure to rural communities during my stay has opened my eye to unharnessed opportunities in the agricultural value chains.

Going forward, I plan to turn the ideas I gathered during this training into businesses using the blueprint obtained from LTI.

Daramola Christian, Agric Extension & Comm. Fed. Univ. Oye-Ekiti

Before, I have no regard for agriculture. I found myself there and I was doing it just for doing sake. My hatred for the agriculture got increased by the way I was taught in school. They make agriculture so hard to us and we were made to work like a laborer.

On getting to LTI however, my experience here let me realized that Agriculture is life and is also fun. This mindset therefore made me decided to open my heart and get the knowledge. As a result, I was able to learn crop production, poultry farming, fishery farming and many more

Furthermore, school of ideation shaped my mind and change my perspective to problems. I now see problems as opportunity to explore.

With what I have learnt from LTI, I want to go into fish and poultry farming while using the skills gained to proffer solutions to some of the current problems in my immediate communities.

..

My internship period in LTI has made me realized that the agricultural education have been receiving before now has been a limitation to my aspirations.

At LTI, I was exposed to agriculture beyond books. I kind of exposition that made me feel studying agriculture is one of those best thing to do. I learnt practical crop production, pest/insect control, fish production, poultry production among others. Being an extension students, I have the opportunity to get exposure to rural communities and render extension services. The school of ideation get my mind stretched on idea generation and problem solving.

Though Agriculture is a very wide,  but my experience here has helped  me to realize where my interest lies and I can’t wait to finish my studies to effectively put everything I have learnt into practice.
