About Lead Transformation Initiative
Lead Transformation Initiative came into existence with the mission of raising transformed minds who will be creating sustainable development in rural and urban communities of Nigeria, starting from Akure, Ondo State.
Since its inception, the organization has contributed immensely to empowering young people, especially in the agricultural value chains.
Located close to the prestigious Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), LTI offers numerous opportunities for students seeking volunteering or internship roles.
Youth Development Projects Offered at the Center in Akure
With our vision of raising transformed minds for sustainable development, we have a series of projects and activities that are enabling us to walk this path for youths in Akure and Nigeria generally. All our projects stem from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, thereby empowering our participants with skills to become active global citizen.
The projects we run in our center are youth centric to bring about their holistic development. Some of our youth development projects are:
Sustainable Development Bootcamp
The Sustainable Development Bootcamp is the signature project at our youth development center for people in Akure and all over Nigeria.
This is a six-month fully residential training where participants undergo a series of in-class and hands-on training. The training focuses on the mind and hand development of young people.
It is expected that at the end of the training, participants will be skilled enough to generate a decent livelihood with the skills developed. You can learn more about the sustainable development bootcamp
Youth Grow Natural
Despite the seemingly over-saturation of white-collar jobs in Nigeria, most youths still prefer to remain in the queue instead of exploring the huge potential in agriculture and its value chains.
While the few who summoned the courage to start lacked the practical knowledge of the industry, they wasted time and resources in their trials which eventually failed. This becomes their testimony of agriculture which further scares more youths from accessing the opportunities therein.
This project therefore aimed at offering sustainable practical agricultural knowledge for the youths who desire to make decent livelihood from agric-value chains.
As part of the intentional development of youth at our center, youths are trained in agroforestry, beekeeping, animal husbandry, seedling production, crop production, market development and general agribusiness development.
Teensgrowforest
This project works with high school students to reignite their interest in agriculture and its value chains. By so doing, it creates the opportunity for youths in our projects to become a role model in agricultural space for high school students.
Gender RIDE
Beyond agriculture, we also engage young people in rural and urban communities to build healthy self-esteem and help get them empowered to make informed choices.
Project Gender RIDE works with both male and female adolescents to prepare them to become a healthy adult. The RIDE is an acronym that means Responsive Informed Decisive and Empowered. You can learn more about Gender RIDE.
Student Leaders Development Training and Tournament (SLEDT)
Young people may be a fraction of our population today, but they will be 100% of the future of society. The level of investment made in them today will determine their productivity tomorrow.
That is why project SLEDT is creating a platform for student leaders across higher institutions in Nigeria and Africa to rehearse their leadership potential while still on campus.
Using a bespoke training curriculum, our center intentionally works on the development of leadership capacities of youths in their respective institutions. You may want to learn more about project SLEDT
House of Opinion
This is a media-debate project that gives young people opportunities to develop their advocacy, communication, and lobbying skills.

How to Get Involved At LTI Youth Development Center
Many roads lead to the market but at our youth development center, there are only three roads. Interested young people can join any of our projects or activities either as:
Intern/IT student
This position is for agricultural students of any tertiary institutions in Nigeria seeking for industrial placement for a minimum of 3 months.
Volunteer
This position is for any young person seeking capacity development in agricultural value chain development. This role is more flexible based on the project at hand.
Call for Application
Occasionally, we do make an open call for applications for a specific set of people.
